A Message From the Commander,
With the recent Change of Cadet Commander Ceremony it is impossible not to reflect back upon the squadron's achievements. Just 18 months into Phoenix's latest reincarnation, we have many successes to be proud of in the last six months -- members - seniors & cadets - attended many activities including:
- Corporate Leadership Course, SEG
- Training Leaders of Cadets, CTWg
- Int'l African American Arts Festival, backing up the NY Guard Medics
- NYWg & other Wing Leadership Encampments
- Kids Day at La Guardia airport & NYCG Weekend Bivouac at Floyd Bennett Field
- USAF Art Show at Society of Illustrators
- NYCG Mission Scanner Course at Falcon Squadron
- NYC Marathon
- NYC Veteran's Day Parade
- NE Region Conference
There were some disappointments, including the weather-related cancellation of the first-ever NER glider flights out of Solberg airport, powered orientation-flights out of MacArthur airport and the postponement of the inaugural NER AEO Academy. However, we accomplished the annual Safety Down Day, our annual self-assessment AND are ending the calendar year as still the largest squadron amongst the NY City Group of squadrons! Go Phoenix!
Wishing all our members and friends a warm and wonderful winter!
Semper Vigilans!
